Amritsar, also known as Ambarsar colloquially and historically referred to as Ramdaspur, is situated in the Punjab state of India. The city's name originates from Amrit Sarovar, which was constructed by Guru Ram Das in the village of Tung. Guru Ram Das held the belief that the waters of this lake possessed healing properties.
